By shifting the cutting spindle centerline away from the input spindle axis, the housing design provides a physical relief zone. This layout allows workshops to route cutting tools into tight, deep channels, internal box ribs, and high-sided pockets. Operators can complete side milling and drilling processes without colliding with surrounding table clamps, high part flanges, or fixture brackets, eliminating the need to design overly long, unstable custom tooling setups.
To prevent structural deflection and ensure long-term stability during medium-to-heavy side milling, our offset heads are manufactured to strict metallurgical standards:
Monoblock Castings: Main bodies are cast from premium QT500-7 Ductile Cast Iron or high-rigidity aluminum alloys, depending on the model’s weight constraints.
Stress Relief: Each casting is stabilized using artificial aging and cryogenic stress-relief cycles to minimize internal material tension.
Torque Support: This rigid casing configuration absorbs cutting vibration and radial torque, maintaining precise geometric alignment under continuous lateral loading.
Our offset milling attachments incorporate high-quality transmission components to ensure smooth, efficient power transfer:
Gleason Spiral Bevel Gears: Built with Gleason ground spiral bevel gears in 20CrMnTi Alloy Steel, carburized and quenched to a surface hardness of HRC 58-62, and ground to ISO Grade 4 precision. Gearing backlash is held to ≤ 15 arcmin, and operating noise is limited to ≤ 70 dB.
Performance Specifications (DK90-BT40-W13): As a representative model, this unit features a 1:1 transmission ratio, operates at speeds up to 4,500 RPM, and delivers up to 35.0 Nm of cutting torque. It supports a clamping range of Ø1.0 mm to Ø13.0 mm, has a tapping range of M6 to M10, and maintains a manageable weight of 5.85 kg for compatibility with standard automatic tool changers.
