View DetailsThe primary mechanical advantage of the BOD Slim Angle Head Series is its highly compact housing geometry. The DK90-BT40 DC Collet Series (comprising the DC5M, DC6, DC7, DC8, and DC10 models) and the DK90-BT50 DC Collet Series (extending up to DC16) feature minimized structural cross-sections. This design allows the tool head to descend deep into complex workpiece profiles, narrow internal slots, and thin-walled box structures where standard-width milling heads cannot clear, eliminating the need to execute complicated multi-setup part rotations.
To maintain a small radial profile without compromising tool-holding security, this series utilizes two distinct clamping standards:
Draw-in DC Collet System: Employed in the BT40 and BT50 DC series, this system utilizes high-precision draw-in collets to achieve a highly compact external diameter directly at the tool holder tip, providing excellent clearance.
ER Mini Nut Spindle Interface: Featured in the DK90-BT50 ER Mini Nut Series (comprising the ER11M, ER16M, ER20M, and ER25M models). This series utilizes specialized M-style mini clamping nuts, which substantially reduce the overall head width while maintaining compatibility with standard, widely available ER collets for high operational flexibility.
Minimizing the size of a right-angle attachment housing usually risks reducing its mechanical strength. To prevent this, BOD slim angle heads maintain rigid manufacturing standards:
Precision Gearing: The internal drive trains utilize Gleason ground spiral bevel gears in 20CrMnTi Alloy Steel. Carburized and quenched to a surface hardness of HRC 58-62 and ground to ISO Grade 4 precision, these gears keep transmission backlash to ≤ 15 arcmin and noise below 70 dB under full load.
High-Rigidity Casings: The housings are cast from high-strength alloys or aged QT500-7 Ductile Cast Iron, which undergo rigorous artificial aging and cryogenic stress-relief treatments.
Spindle Bearings: Supported by high-precision, preloaded P4 class angular contact bearings, these heads maintain low rotational runout and stable cutting performance under lateral side-milling forces.
